PI - Principal Investigator
Murat Kaya Yapıcı
He is a faculty member at Sabanci University - Faculty of Engineering & Natural Sciences, Electronics Engineering Program and an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington - Seattle, USA. Dr. Yapici received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University - College Station (TAMU) in 2004 and 2009, respectively. Upon completion of his Ph.D. he worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the Solid State Electronics, Photonics and Nano-Engineering Laboratory at TAMU. Dr. Yapici has expert knowledge on device fabrication, microelectronic process technologies, nanofabrication techniques, and characterization tools. His research interests include MEMS/NEMS, nanotechnology, sensors/actuators, microfluidics, acousto-optic devices for biological and medical applications; as well as semiconductor process technology, novel nanofabrication based on scanning probes and integration of nanomaterials, MEMS with CMOS. He is a member of the SPIE, IEEE and IEEE-Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.

Burcu Arman Kuzubasoglu
She received a B.Sc. in Textile Engineering (2010), an M.Sc. in Polymer Science and Technology (2012), and a Ph.D. in Textile Engineering (2021) from Istanbul Technical University in Turkey. She was a visiting researcher at ENSAIT - Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles, Roubaix-France, from March to May 2019. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Sabancı University. Her areas of research activities include wearable technology, electronic textiles, polymer science, thin film coatings.

Yaser Vaheb
He completed his Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics at the University Paris-Sud. He later joined Sabanci university as postdoctoral researcher working on suspended graphene electrical transport. He is currently working as postdoctoral researcher in Sabanci university in SU-MEMS group.

Farid Sayar Irani
He received his B.S. degree from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering and later on completed his M.Sc. research work on synthesis of various nanomaterials and their applications in particular to sensors and photovoltaic devices.

Mostafa Vafaei
He received his M.S. degree in Electronic Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2008. He has got a Ph.D. degree from the Electrical Engineering Department, Islamic Azad University, West Tehran, in 2020. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Sabancı University. His main research interests include the development of MEMS-based gas sensors, data analysis, and machine olfaction.

Melih Can Tasdelen
He completed his B.S. and MSc. degrees in Materials Science at Sabancı University, İstanbul, Turkey. During his master’s study, he focused on graphene in strain sensing applications including device fabrication within the scope of microelectronic process technologies, nanofabrication techniques, and characterization. Upon completion of his MSc. he is currently pursuing his studies as a Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Nano Engineering Department at Sabancı University.

He is a PhD candidate in the Electronics engineering program of Sabanci University where he also previously received his MSc degree. His research interest covers wearable biosignal acquisition systems and MEMs fabrication.

Saygun Guler
He completed his MSc - Biomedical Engineer at the University of Dundee. Later he worked in digital healthcare industry for two years in Southampton Science Park, UK, where he served as a biosignal engineer. He is currently working under SU-MEMS supervision here in Sabanci as a graduate assistant.

Oguz Mustafa Albayrak
He completed his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the Middle East Technical University-METU, Ankara, Turkey. During his studies, he worked with the METU Clean Energy Team on development of battery-electric vehicles. Thereafter he worked in the automotive industry as truck front axle steel suspension R&D engineer for 3 years and now as a graduate student he is working on his studies including design, fabrication, and packaging of bio-sensors and auxiliary systems.

She was an undergraduate student in Electronics Engineering program at Sabancı University and she is doing a minor in Physics. She is interested in microelectronic fabrication, optoelectronics, integrated circuit design and application of quantum mechanics in medical biophysics. She is willing to pursue a career in academy.

She received the B.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University in 2021. Currently, she is continuing her studies at Sabanci University as a graduate student. Her research interests include microfabrication and design for medical and biological applications.

Seyed Sajjad Mirbakht
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Seraj University in Tabriz, Iran. During his undergraduate studies, he honed his skills in designing analog and digital systems. Now, as a PhD student at Sabanci University, he is dedicated to advancing wearable devices and soft electronics by exploring novel biomaterials and innovative printing techniques for medical and health monitoring applications.

She completed her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Cukurova University in Adana, Turkey. She is currently an MSc candidate in the Electronics Engineering program at Sabancı University. Her master's study focused on MEMS technology, microfabrication, and microsystems, as well as integrating graphene into wearable electronics for biosignal acquisition systems.

She graduated with a double major in Physics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering from Istanbul Technical University in 2024. With a background in physics, she is eager to contribute to the development of new technologies and aspires to pursue an academic career.

Sera Akyeli
She is a former architect who transitioned to Materials Science and Nano Engineering after graduating from Bilkent University in 2021. In 2024, she earned a high honors degree from Sabancı University with a minor in physics. Her interests include quantum materials and micro/nano device fabrication, with lab experience in quantum optical materials and cleanroom processes from her internship at Cavendish Laboratory and projects with the SU-MEMS Group. She is currently pursuing a master's in Materials Science and Nano Engineering at Sabancı University.

Osman Sahin
Osman Sahin received the B.S. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Ihsan Dogramaci Bilkent University in 2016, the M.S. degree in 2020 from Sabancı University in Turkey. He worked as a system design engineer in the smartphone group of Vestel for about a year (2016-2017). He obtained his PhD degree at Sabanci in 2024. His research interests include nanotechnology, device fabrication, nanofabrication techniques.

Ali Hosseinpour Shafaghi
He received his B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering working on fluid dynamics and heat transfer. Later, in his M.Sc., he continued his study focusing on nanofluidics. In 2021, he joined the “Micro/Nano Devices & Systems Lab (SU-MEMS)” research group as a Ph.D. student in Mechatronics Engineering program at Sabanci University. He worked on the design and microfabrication of MEMS devices and their integration with microfluidics and photonics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Sabanci University in 2024. His research interests include microfabrication, MEMS, microfluidics, and heat transfer.

Rayan Bajwa
He received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan in 2015, and M.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Sabanci University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2019. He obtained his PhD degree in Electronics Engineering at Sabanci in 2024. His research interests include development of novel fabrication technologies for complex self-assembled microstructures that enable realization of high performance passive electronic components.
